Welcome to the Leech Lake Area Chamber of Commerce
My name is Jay Dworsky. My family is new to the Leech Lake area. We just bought a cabin on Leech in April 2021 (not too far from Diamond Point). We absolutely love our cabin, a gift from the heavens! I have to say, I never want to leave it just feels like home amidst the water, clean air, loons, eagles, pelicans, wild-life and the down to earth nice people we’ve met.
My wife Nancy, is a part-time anti-coagulation nurse, serving clients who are using the drug warfarin or coumadin. She grew up with a home on Lake Michigan, always her dream to have her own cabin. As they say, I guess we’re living the dream. My work is in the financial services, helping families build their retirement income streams. I’ve been doing this work for almost 20 years. My office is pretty much wherever I am in needed; my client’s business, at their homes, in the boat, on the ski slopes and of course a lot of time on the phone. I love connecting with people and being a resource for their financial questions. So, that’s why I joined the Leech Lake chamber – to meet more people and have conversation.
Nancy and I have two wonderful children, Karen (14) and Leo (18). It would’ve been nice to have the cabin when the children were younger, but I am not complaining just explaining. Leo is a freshman at the University of Minnesota, he’s studying vocal performance and business on a scholarship. Karen is a freshman in high school at St. Louis Park. She’s doing well making friends, acting in the school plays and on her way to a career in medicine. If you see the Dworsky family, we might be the ones singing and being a little loud while walking our rescue dog, Sarah.
