A moment in time: Walker’s Shingobee Hills
Walker Company 3709 CCC camp developed Shingobee Hills in 1938, constructing a toboggan slide and three ski slides. The Shingobee Winter Playground Association, comprised of parents and businessmen living in the Walker area, operated the ski tow and the Chalet where coffee and lunches are served. The Association was dissolved in 1970. Cross-country ski trails were cleared for Walker students in 1975. The chalet was open from 1975 to 1980. In 1982 the Hill was officially closed to downhill skiing.
