A Moment in Time: Walker’s Founding Father
P.H. McGarry visited the Walker area in 1895. He became the first county commissioner and fought to have Walker designated as county seat in 1897. Taking steps to secure the future of Walker, he encouraged the lumber industry to build a mill here and he built the first resort, Glengarry on Leech Lake.
The Leech Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and the Cass County Museum will present “A Moment in Time” each week. If you are interested in becoming a member of the Leech Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, please give us a call at 218-547-1313 and we will be happy to give you some more information!
