With Christmas just around the corner, it’s time to get into the holiday spirit, and there’s no better way to do that than by attending the annual “Festival of Lights” in Walker, MN! Set to take place on Friday and Saturday, November 24th and 25th, 2023, this event will be fun for everyone. Get ready for a festive weekend filled with community, lights, music, and a whole lot of holiday cheer!
Here are some of the exciting events you can expect during the celebration:
Community Tree Lighting & Live Music
The festivities kick off with the grand lighting of the community Christmas tree. The magical moment when the lights come to life is a heartwarming experience that marks the start of the holiday season in Walker. Live music will fill the air, setting the perfect mood for the evening.
Music will begin at 4:30 pm on November 24 at the Village Square with the tree lighting at 5:00pm.
Festivus Photo Hunt
For those who love a good challenge, the Festivus Photo Hunt is a must-join activity. Explore the streets of Walker, MN, and hunt for hidden holiday treasures while capturing the magic of the season in photographs. Portage Brewing Company will be the beginning and the end of the hunt on both November 24 & 25th. Noon – 4:00 pm both days.
Holiday Creative Craft Stations
Get your creative juices flowing at the craft stations. It’s an opportunity for people of all ages to get their hands busy making holiday-themed crafts, adding a personal touch to your seasonal decorations. Check our facebook page for a complete list of projects.
Kids Party with Santa & Reindeer
Santa Claus himself will make a special appearance, ready to hear the holiday wishes of children and adults alike. There’s also the chance to meet and interact with live reindeer – a unique experience that will surely delight the young and the young at heart. Walker Bay Theater will once again be hosting the man in red on November 25th from 11am – 1 pm. Jump on the horse and buggy rides starting at 1 pm on main street.
Miracle on 5th Street Party & Parade Float Display
Miracle on 5th Street is a must-see event, featuring an enchanting parade float display that will fill you with holiday spirit. Enjoy the lights, multiple photo opportunities, candy walk, and an endless supply of Christmas Joy. Saturday November 25 starting at 5:00 pm. Santa will be checking in on everyone from 2-6 pm.
The Reindeer Ramble takes off from the Chase on the Lake on Saturday, November 25. Register at the Chase @ 8 am that morning. This 2 mile run/walk is very festive especially if you wear your holiday costumes.
Spread the holiday cheer by contributing to the Toy Drive. Your donations will help bring smiles to the faces of children in need during this special season. A decorated fish house will be on Miracle on 5th street to drop off your unwrapped toys.
Horse & Sleigh Rides
Experience the magic of winter with horse and sleigh rides through the charming streets of Walker. It’s a journey that will transport you to a world of holiday enchantment. Rides will be on Saturday, November 25 from 1-4 pm in front of Village Square Pizza.
Sip & Shop
If you’re still on the lookout for holiday gifts, the Sip & Shop event is the place to be. Enjoy a delightful shopping experience while sipping on warm beverages and exploring unique gifts from local vendors. Sip & Shop mugs will be filled with soooo many coupons that you won’t know where to begin. The mugs will be for sale at participating stores the week before the event while supplies last.
