Fishing Report – February 19, 2023 – Leech Lake Fish House Rentals

Ice and snow conditions remain relatively the same as last week with 18-24 inches being reported in almost all areas of the lake.  Snow has settled quite nicely in Walker Bay making off road traffic possible in most areas.  Main lake snow conditions, even though improved, are still limited as drifting and snow depths still remain in the 6-10″ range.  Drifts of higher ranges are still being reported in some areas.

Main Lake – once again, the perch bite has been good to great in areas such as Gregs Breakline, Goose Island area and Grand View Flats on the northwest side of the main lake.  Best depths have been off the top of structures where it breaks into deep water along the sand to mud transition bottom areas.  Walleye reports have picked up as well during the morning and evening hours actively jigging glow in the dark spoons or with dead sticks set close to bottom with a plain hook and rainbow minnow.  A decent whitefish and Tulibee bite has been happening out of Stoney Point in the Paris Trench area in 24-30ft during the evening and overnight hours.  Eelpout reports still remain limited on the main lake as most have moved towards deep water for the spawning season about to occur.

Walker Bay – the Sand Point area was once best again for Perch during the day and a decent Walleye bite in the evening and early morning.  The best action is coming from 10-12 feet during the day for Perch in sand to weed transition areas.  Walleyes have been most active on the edges of the south breakline in 12-18 ft of water. Green glow or Orange glow jigging spoons tipped with any minnow head have worked best. Cedar Point, Breezy Point and Templar Point have all been producers of an Eelpout bite during the evening hours on the sharpest breaklines in 25-40ft.

We still have limited openings for the last week and weekend of game fish season.  Give us a call or send us a message to book your next sleeper or day house on Leech Lake before the seasons over!
