Fishing Report for December 30, 2020 – Leech Lake Fish House Rentals

Leech Lake Fish House Rentals

Ice depths right now vary on Leech Lake. The main basin ice depths range from 10″ to 14″ depending on what part of the lake you are on. Andersons Pine Point Resort is currently allowing vehicle traffic out of their access. There is a heave restricting vehicle access beyond a line from Pine Point to Goose Island, over to the Hardwoods area.

Walker Bay currently is 5″ to 8″ with a few areas yet to be checked for ice thickness.. Please use caution while traveling and check ice often as you go.

Fishing has been very consistent so far in all areas of the lake. In Walker Bay, Sand Point has been a good bet for Walleyes and Perch in 10-12 ft. Cedar Point has also been producing walleyes during the morning and evening hours in 14-20′ with set lines and a shiner or rainbow chub. Some pan fish have been active during the evening hours in Shingobee Bay as well.

The main lake in areas such as Pine Point, Traders Bay and Horseshoe Bay have all been a good bet for all species. Transition areas of clean bottom to chara grass have been the best bet in 11-13 ft. UV jigging spoons of just about any color have been top producers. Tip ups set just away from the shelter have also been working as it helps cover more area on some of these larger flats. For numbers of keeper size perch, staying mobile has been essential. One pleasant early surprise this year has been a very good day and night time eelpout bite in the Goose Island area via the same tactics used for Perch and Walleyes.
