Fishing on Leech Lake has remained consistently consistent. Water temps in the high 60s have kept fishing pretty good for this time of year. Areas such as Cedar Point, Sand Point and Breezy Point have been most productive in 10-14 for using leeches and nightcrawlers. Fishing has been best during the morning and evening hours.
For the main lake, try the edges of Big Rock, Huddles and Annex reefs in 12-15 ft pulling spinners and crawlers for walleyes. Smallmouth Bass can also be caught in these same areas fishing up on top of the reefs in boulders with swim baits or a bobber and leech set up. Crainbaits trolled around these areas in the evening can also be productive using a #7 shad rap in crayfish or purple colors.
