The Walker Farmers’ & Crafters’ Market – Every Thursday

Fresh produce, local artistry, the aroma of freshly baked goods–what’s better than a farmers market on a sunny summer morning? Farmers markets get us outside, encourage the support of local businesses, and bring the community together. Located at Green Scene, 617 Michigan Ave W, at the Walker Farmers Market, you’ll find handcrafted jewelry, plants, flowers, fresh produce, jams, honey, and hand-harvested wild rice (to name a few). Wandering around a vibrant community while chatting with wholesome vendors is a great way to bring joy to your day.

Rock ‘N Roll Event of the Summer at Moondance – July 20th – 22nd

From July 20th through July 22nd, you can rock out to bands like Stone Temple Pilots, Gin Blossoms, and Rick Springfield. The Rock ‘N Roll Event of the Summer at Moondance is an annual festival held on over 300 acres. While you can make it a day trip, this three day festival is enjoyed best when camping. The grounds have security, medical services, showers, ice, and shuttle buses to take you to the stages. Additionally, the same company also puts the Harvest Moon Festival–an epic beer, wine, and craft event held on September 16th.

Leech Lake Regatta – August 12 – 14th

When people think of sailboats, typically it’s the ocean that comes to mind. However, lakes seem to offer a more serene and communal atmosphere, which is why we love the Leech Lake Regatta. It is a three day sailboat racing event where you can either race your own boat or simply observe from the shore. There will be live music, food, and a chance to see the lake sprinkled with beautiful sailboats. Don’t forget to snap some photos as the beautiful sail boats float across the shimmering water and cotton candy skies.

Art Fair at the Winery – August 19th – 20th

Forestedge Winery is a charming fruit-based winery located near the Paul Bunyan State Forest. Every year, on the third weekend of August, they host the Art Fair at the Winery event where regional vendors have an opportunity to display their craft. Let the wine flow as you stroll through the grounds and find unique treasures; croon your way through the lively crowd while enjoying live music; and relish in the taste of delicious food and baked goods. We love art fairs for the simple fact that they have all of our favorite things in one place.

Brunch Bash at Green Scene Market – Every Saturday

If looking at their photos doesn’t convince you to try a cocktail or one of their pizzas–we don’t know what will. Green Scene Market is a restaurant, event venue, market, and grab-and-go establishment all in one. Every Saturday during the summer, their Brunch Bash offers specials on food and cocktails as well as live music. Oh, and we can’t forget about their farmer and crafter market every Thursday. We love a small business supporting other small businesses.

Cass County Museum

The Cass County Museum offers free entry courtesy of nearby businesses. At Cass County Museum, you can learn about Ed Rogers, the first Native American to be elected to a public office as well as the importance of the Leech Lake Reservation. The American Indian population has such a connection with Leech Lake. At Cass County Museum, you’ll learn all about their cultural practices, especially when it comes to the land and harvesting the rice fields.

Corona Cornhole

Before getting into the ever-so serious game of cornhole, it’s important to note that Cabana Del Norte also has Margarita Mondays. These aren’t just any sort of margaritas, either–we’re talkin’ gummy bear margaritas. Keep an eye out on their Facebook page for cornhole tournament announcements where they will also be having specials on a variety of drinks and food. If that wasn’t enough, also keep your eyes peeled for their Surf & Turf raffles that you won’t want to miss.

Walker Bay Theater

Walker Bay Theater is a nonprofit theater promoting family entertainment and youth theater. Throughout July, make sure to grab tickets for their latest production called Church Basement Ladies, a musical comedy that celebrates the ladies who cook the meals for church functions in the basement kitchen of a Minnesota Lutheran church circa 1965.
