6 Fun Ways to Experience Fall in Walker, MN

1. The Fall Color Drive
Whether you want to drive the whole route or just part of it, the Leech Lake Area Fall Color Drive offers patrons a whole host of fall beauty. The drive will take you along Leech Lake, mystical forests, quaint towns, and other bodies of water all while engulfing you in fall foliage! Start in Walker, MN and follow the route, circling back to Blue Trail Forest Road leading into Walker.
2. Harvest Moon Festival
Saturday, September 27th plays host to Walker’s annual Moondance Harvest Moon Festival. Festival goers will find over 150 craft beers, wines and spirits for enjoying as well as live music, food, crafts, fun contests and more. While there is a variety of other Fall Has It All events happening throughout the second half of September that you may not want to miss, the festival is the big finale!
3. Check out Carter’s Fall Festival
Every weekend from September 24th to October 30th, take a 30-minute fall-colored drive to Park Rapids, MN and check out the Carter’s Farm Fall Festival. You’ll be able to go through their infamous corn maze, hear live music, buy local produce and pumpkins, and check out other awesome local vendors! Saturday hours are from 10am-5pm and Sundays are open from 12pm-5pm.
4. Visit the Walker Area Farmer’s Market & Crafter’s Market at the Green Scene
The Farmer’s Market is a great way to get fresh local produce and goods in addition to supporting the community. You won’t be bored on Thursdays or Saturdays when you head over to the Walker area market where you’ll find live music, fresh juice, breakfast, baked goods, produce, jewelry and other crafts, and so much more!
5. Visit the Red Barn Orchard
Apples and fall go hand-in-hand. There’s apple cider, homemade caramel apples, apple crisp and more! Starting September 3rd, take a short drive to Pine River, MN on Saturdays and Sundays to check out the Red Barn Orchard. They have delicious pre-picked apples, honey and apple cider for purchase. 6. Take a boat tour
You can always drive around to view the fall scenery, but why not get on a boat instead? A different perspective to view fall foliage is to get on the lake on a warm, sunny day. There are various boat touring companies in Walker whether you just want to take a ride or try to catch a few walleyes!
