Walker Minnesota Welcomes the Walter family to Acorn Hill Resort on Leech Lake!

After several years of searching for that perfect Resort to buy, the father and son team of Kyle and Jeff Walter, have found the perfect resort in Acorn Hill Resort for their family’s future. Moving into the business from Elgin Illinois are Kyle, his wife Rebekah and their young son Jackson; Kyle’s father and mother, Jeff and Mary; sister, Shannon; and grandfather George.

As true to most of our area Resort owners, Leech Lake has been in their blood as they have been vacationing in the area for the past 25 years! It was their dream to own one of the many great resorts on Leech Lake.

Kyle Walter was busy on opening day of fishing this year helping customers get out on the water. “Our bait tanks were stocked and we had a good supply of shiners” Walter exclaimed.

For the past 18 years Acorn Hill Resort has been owned and operated by the Doug Fure family. Under the Fure’s tenure Acorn Hill grew both the cash flow and the asset quality of the area resort. The family was proud to turn over the keys to this Leech Lake Resort with upgraded classic cabins, newly remodeled modern cabins, indoor swimming pool and a seasonal RV park with room to grow, coupled with an impressive fleet of rental boats and pontoons.

After making the tough decision to sell, the Fure’s contacted Minnesota Resort Sales at their North Office. Dan Houle, the associate broker with the company, listed the property in October and wrote up the offer in January (yes, it was a cold day in Walker!). The Walter Family had been working with Minnesota Resort Sales reviewing properties, when they reviewed the Acorn Hill Portfolio, Houle put the deal together and the rest is history. Houle says that the market is strong for both sellers and buyers and looks forward to working with fellow Leech Lake Chamber of Commerce members welcoming the new generation of Resort Owners to the area.

Doug Fure wanted to send out a special thank you to the local area families, Resorts, and fellow Chamber Members. “It has been a great time for our family and we could not have accomplished it without our good neighbors, friends, and our fantastic customers.” I wanted to especially thank Dan Houle for his professional approach and knowledge in our industry.
