Northern Community Radio – KAXE 91.7 FM/KBXE 90.5 FM is an independent, nonprofit, community radio station.
Established in 1976, with enthusiasm and grit, we were the first rural public radio station in the United States. With station and tower locations in Grand Rapids and Bemidji/Bagley, as well as a translator in Brainerd at 89.9 FM, our signal reaches 160,000 people across Northern Minnesota. We also can be streamed at kaxe.org.
Our mission is to build community in Northern Minnesota by telling the stories of the people and the land through music, conversation, local news, and events.

Station office hours are 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM Monday through Friday
