Fishing Report for week of January 25, 2021
Leech Lake Fish House Rentals
Another busy and great weather week on Leech Lake. Our ice road out of Andersons Pine Point still leads to fishable areas around Goose Island, Pine Point, Snake Pits and Little and Big Hardwoods areas. We plan to extend the road early this coming week to the Stoney Point area including the Trench, as well as north of Big Hardwoods. Stay tuned for further updates regarding our ice roads. 4×4 travel off road is still possible with a snow base of around 6-8 inches off our main roads.
Fishing still remains strong on the main part of the lake in the Goose Island area. Almost all of our renters reported a strong Perch bite throughout the day. Areas of 10-13ft seemed best with reports coming in from shallower water such as 8-10ft with the same success. The walleye bite has slowed a little however there are still a few being caught during the morning and evening primetime hours. Gold, Green and Orange colors still have been working best, mainly on set lines or tip ups using bigger rainbow chubs or lite pike sucker minnows.
Walker Bay ice conditions are slowly improving with 8-13 inches of ice being now found in most spots. Walleyes have been active in the morning and evening hours along shoreline breaks in 14-18ft. A few of the mid bay humps are kicking out fish throughout the day in 25-35 ft. Sand Point remains productive for both Perch and Walleyes in transition areas of weeds and sand in 11-13 ft.
We still have limited availability for the month of February. Give us a call or send us a message to book your sleeper or day house before the season is over!
