Fishing Report from Trappers Landing January 13, 2020
Leech Lake Ice Report
Good afternoon anglers, the ice conditions are improving on the south end of Leech Lake. The Trapper’s team has been busy reopening roads, making new roads and adding new cutouts where possible as many of the larger drifts and banks have slush under them, although most pockets are beginning to freeze. With the cooler evenings, we are gaining ice daily which is building a nice base for most of the roads as the majority of the roads are seeing 17-18″ of ice. Snow pack is hard and off road travel must be limited to snowmobiles or tracked vehicles currently as there still is a good amount of snow across the lake. With another cold front coming our way we are looking to build more ice this week and have the ice roads open to the public this Friday, January 17th. Please check back on Thursday when we do another report.
