Fishing Report for May 10, 2021
With walleye opener around the corner here this week, water temps are in the upper 40s to low 50s throughout much of the lake. Things should be setting up like a pretty traditional Leech Lake Opener. 1/8th jig and a shiner or rainbow will be probably the preferred choice. If you get some wind make long drifts and cover ground. If it calms down you will have to cover ground and until you connect and then fan cast. Lindy rig with a leech is another great option. Windier days 5-7 feet of water and calmer days 9-14 feet of water would be good starting points. Fish windblow shorelines and points on the lake and you will find some fish.
Crappies are starting to show up more in the dark bottom bays and near emergent weed growth. A 1/32oz jig under a float with either crappie minnow or plastic is the go to.
Best of luck this weekend
