Fishing Report for January 17, 2022
It was a very busy weekend on Leech Lake. Reports of a slower bite on Lake of the Woods, Red and Mille Lacs seemed to have increased the traffic in the area. Here is your current report for the area.
Main Lake – ice conditions are good for most vehicles as of this weekend. Reports out of Pine Point, Traders Bay, Horseshoe Bay and the south basin are seeing 18-22 inches of ice in most areas. Snow conditions are still in the range where off road traffic (especially if pulling a fish house) are difficult. Resorts with plowed roads currently include Andersons Pine Point Resort, Acorn Hill Resort, Horseshoe Bay Resort and Trappers Landing. If you’d like a plowed spot please contact the resort that you are going to be using, most of them have connections to someone who can plow you a spot.
Fishing reports from this week were that the bite was a bit slower than normal for walleyes. Perch however have been consistent in the Goose Island areas however staying mobile was key to putting numbers of jumbos together. Gold or silver spoons with a full minnow was the best producer.
Walker Bay – ice conditions in the bay range from 12-14 inches in most spots. Some minor flooding is occurring on plowed roads and conditions depending on the day varies. Off road travel is difficult as well. There area a few plowed roads going out of Cochorans Marina and the Ericksons Landing accesses, but are not being maintained daily. Fishing reports were varied from most anglers, but a few walleyes are still being caught off the deeper structure of shoreline breaks and points. Green or Orange glow spoons were once again the best producers in the early morning or evening hours.
We still have limited availability for the rest of January and February. Give us a call to book your next sleeper or day rental on Leech Lake!
