Leech and Cass Lake Fishing report:
Summer peak fishing has its ups and downs. Not all schools of fish want to bite at the same time. Peak fishing periods are very important. Keep that in mind when following this weeks report.
This week has wind, clouds, flat calm and sun. Yep we had it all and the fish cooperated through it all. Walleyes on Leech and Cass are living sand grass and weeds. Bobbers and crawlers as well as small to medium leeches were turning fish in 10-14ft. Jig raps and small plastics were picking of the aggressive fish when the bite slowed. The main lake rock humps have walleye from 8-10ft and bite best with wind. Crank baits on both Cass and Leech lake are turning fish in the evening on 10-12 ft sand flats.
Perch fishing on Cass is heating up as well. Small jigs and plastics or fat heads worked on the bottom around emergent weeds were working this week on the main lake North and East side.
Musky action on both lakes is heating up. The best bite has been the evening hours into the night on shoreline breaks and main lake points using top water, small bucktails and twitch baits.
Have a great week of fishing!
