Fishing Report for February 27, 2023

Leech Lake Fish House Rentals

After somewhat dodging last week’s blizzard, ice and snow conditions remain relatively the same as last week. Off road travel on the main lake still remains somewhat difficult in many areas where drifting has occurred. Ice depths of 20-24 inches reported in almost all areas of the lake.  In Walker Bay, the snow remains pretty much settled to an average of 4-6 inches in most areas making off road traffic possible throughout most of the bay.

Main Lake – the Perch bite took somewhat of a hit this week as extreme cold and pressure changes fluctuated rapidly.  Gregs Breakline, Goose Island area and the Snake Pits Flats were top producers once again in the morning and evening hours.  Best depths have been off the top of structures where it breaks into deep water along the sand to mud transition bottom areas.  Walleye reports have picked up as well during the morning and evening hours actively jigging glow in the dark spoons or with dead sticks or tip ups set close to bottom with a plain hook and rainbow minnow.

Walker Bay – Once again, the Sand Point area was best for Perch during the morning hours in 7-10 feet.  A decent Walleye bite in the evening and early morning has also been happening along the deeper breaklines of Sand and Cedar Point in 18-24ft.  Green glow or Orange glow jigging spoons tipped with any minnow head have worked best.

Cedar Point, Breezy Point and Templar Point have all been producers of an Eelpout bite during the evening hours on the sharpest breaklines in 25-40ft.

Thank you to everyone who fished with us this winter.  Overall it was a successful season weather and fishing-wise.  We hope to see you again next winter. Tight lines everyone!
