Fishing Report for February 21, 2022- Leech Lake Fish House Rentals
It’s almost becoming comical at this point, but yet another weekend blizzard hindered much if any at all movement on Leech Lake. A fresh inch of snow followed by 50mph wind gusts on Friday created whiteout conditions leaving many areas completely impossible.
Main Lake – A few areas in Sucker Bay, Horseshoe Bay and Traders Bay yielded a few walleyes and a few jumbo perch in 18-22ft along areas of mud bottom. Most productive areas were the Deadhead Bay area and Duck Point. The shallow water eelpout bite has seemed to slow down which is expected for this time of year as they head towards spawning areas. Snow amounts now in most areas of the main lake are in the 12-16 inch range with higher amounts in drifted areas.
Walker Bay reports limited activity with off road travel difficult as well. A few walleyes were caught in the Cedar Point area along the sharper breaks in 22-30 ft. A few eelpout are being caught in those same areas as well.
We will be pulling our houses off for the year after the weekend as conditions look to get more challenging with the forecasted snow this week. We will continue to provide reports on the bite and conditions as time permits until we have open water.
