Shingobee Winter Phenology

Shingobee Winter Phenology

Pre-Groundhog Day Celebration at Shingobee Hills Recreation Area

Celebrate Groundhog Day this Saturday at Shingobee Hills. The chalet will be open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.  Forest Service staff will be doing a little winter phenology (searching for signs of spring) and making some groundhog-like predictions. Stop by the Shingobee chalet to learn more about groundhogs, pick up a winter-to-spring scavenger hunt, and have a cup of hot chocolate.  Skiers, snowshoers, sledders and rodent-enthusiasts are welcome!  Snowshoes are available to use from the chalet.  We will award a small prize for funniest hat or best groundhog costume!

Shingobee Hills is located 6 miles west of Walker off Highway 34.
