On August 15th Dorian Grilley of Bike MN conducted a “Bike Audit” of Walker.  Walker is applying to become a “Bike Friendly Community” a designation that will help people to choose Walker as a destination for vacations and bike adventures. Trails and school accessibility routes were studied as well as bike rack availability and quality of sidewalks, trails and roads.  In the picture submitted, the team consisted of Paul Nye (Back Street Bike repair shop) Steve Frick (WBF Taskforce) Dorian Grilley (Bike MN) , Curt Vining  (WBF Taskforce), Steve Bilben  (WBF Taskforce) and Mayor Jed Shaw.

Walker will be making some improvements and adjustments before making an official submission sometime in 2019.  This effort is coordinated by the Leech Lake Chamber of Commerce and the Cass County Live Healthy SHIP agency.
