SUMMER FISHING OFF TO A GOOD START ON LEECH LAKE!

Fishing Report will come from Ted Gwinn's Guide Service.

The weather was hot and the wind was light until the weekend but Ted found some good walleye action by pulling Shad Raps in the big lake. The Goose Island Flats would be a good spot to start pulling Shad Raps with active fish during the day in Sucker Bay, Portage Bay and Northland Reef to Spirit Reef. Pine Point and Grand Vu Flats were active in the evening. The Perch and Crayfish colored Shad Raps are the hot colors. Ted and his group had a good day fishing Sunday in a windy day fishing Little Hardwood area using Leeches on Lindy Rigs and a limit of Walleye were taken home. My friend's wife who lives in the Portage Bay area showed her husband how to catch a Big Walleye, first cast pulled out a 27 inch Walleye. A good lesson learned here is always bring along a good fishing partner.

If you have not taken in the fireworks on Leech Lake in a boat or in the Walker City Park on the fourth or gone to see the Walker Fourth of July Parade you are missing a fantastic celebration. Many fun activities take place in the Walker City Park and the weather looks like it will be great for the Fourth of July celebration.

You can still call for reservations at the

Leech Lake Area Chamber of Commerce office. 800-833-1118.
